Little learners are invited to meet a very special guest at the Southside Library in Rockhampton this weekend, as beloved giraffe Harold brings a morning of storytelling and fun.

Part of the much-loved Life Education Queensland program, Healthy Harold has supported generations of Aussie kids in schools with messages about health and wellbeing, including friendship, body awareness, physical activity and cyber safety.

This visit is proudly presented by Central Queensland Life Education in partnership with Rockhampton Regional Libraries and will include interactive activities the whole family can enjoy.

Communities, Culture and Heritage and Deputy Mayor Drew Wickerson said Council is thrilled to welcome Harold to the library for an interactive puppet show and special story.

“The Life Education team does an incredible job teaching health and wellbeing in a way that’s meaningful and fun for kids,” Cr Wickerson said.

“For decades, Harold has been a beloved part of many kids lives, and we encourage children aged 0-5 years to come along to this session.

“The best part is that the event is completely free! Just one more reason our Libraries are so much more than books.

“They’re welcoming spaces where people of all ages can come together to learn, connect, and simply have fun.”

Life Education Queensland’s Nicole Arnold said Harold loves visiting with children, and this Saturday at the library will be no different.

“We’ll have a range of engaging activities like packing a healthy lunch and learning about proper dental care, plus Harold will be sharing some of his favourite stories and colouring pages,” Ms Arnold said.

“For generations, Harold has been a trusted friend in teaching kids about health and wellbeing.

“We can't wait to share some of our usual kindergarten activities and bring the magic of Harold to even more families at the Southside Library.”

The free storytime session will run from 10am – 11am on Saturday 14 June at the Southside Library Rockhampton.

First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
