Rockhampton Regional Council together with Neuron Mobility are excited to announce that Neuron E-Scooters will be ready to ride across Rockhampton this Thursday the 24th February!

The bright orange E-Scooters will make travel between Rockhampton’s retail, sporting, business and leisure precincts easy for visitors and residents. With a Ride Zone covering The Botanic Gardens and Zoo, Rocky’s Visitor Information Centre and Riverside Precinct through to Rocky Showgrounds, Browne Park, Kershaw Gardens and Stockland Shopping centre, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said the launch of the E-Scooters will really open up the city and allow more residents and visitors to experience all of what Rockhampton has to offer.

“For Rockhampton residents and visitors this makes it easier to travel between North and South Rockhampton without having to worry about parking your car. You can jump on an E-Scooter and easily park it right outside your destination. No more circling the block looking for the ideal parking spot!”

“We are excited to welcome Neuron Mobility to Rockhampton and their addition of 300 e-scooters to our city, providing a safe, affordable and convenient transport option. Neuron’s 24 hour operations team are on hand to ensure the e-scooters are parked responsibly and relocated to high use areas when required, and will be ensuring the E-scooters are clean, safe and charged for use” said Mayor Williams.

Richard Hannah, Head of Australia and New Zealand at Neuron Mobility, said “We are delighted to be launching in Rockhampton and look forward to partnering with the Council to deliver a safe and convenient service to help people move around the city. E-scooters are really well suited to the area and they will be a great way for locals as well as tourists to travel in a safe, convenient and environmentally-friendly way.”

“Safety is our top priority, it dictates our e-scooter design and also the way we operate them. Our e-scooters are packed with a range of cutting-edge safety features and we know from experience in other cities that riders really appreciate this” said Mr Hannah.

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Mr Greg Bowden said the announcement of the launch coincides perfectly with the opening of the Rockhampton Museum of Art the following day, bringing more visitors to the CBD.

“E-Scooters enable residents and visitors alike to move between our city’s precincts with ease. You will have the opportunity to jump on an e-scooter from North Rocky and easily come and check out the activity in the CBD on your lunch break. Headed to a meeting across the CBD? Jump on an E-Scooter and be there in minutes, parked right outside the front door.”

“The opportunities are endless for retail, sporting and dining precinct operators to work collaboratively together and create unique experiences for patrons to enjoy. Riders will have easier access to multiple venues across the city which in turn generates increased patronage, and this has a significant benefit to the local economy” said Mr Bowden.

Riders will be able to book and use the e-scooters through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in a matter of minutes. Single trips will cost AU$1 to unlock the e-scooter and 45 cents per minute thereafter. More frequent users have the option to purchase Neuron Passes, a subscription service, with Neuron to confirm options to be made available.

Don’t forget these Important Riding Rules and Safety Tips when riding:
