Free Entry as Heritage Village Welcomes Community for Winter Markets
Published on 21 July 2026
The Heritage Village Winter Markets will return on Saturday 15 August from 4pm to 8pm, inviting locals and visitors to embrace a cosy evening filled with food, entertainment and heritage charm. Entry to the market event is free, making it an accessible event for families looking for an affordable night out.
The Village comes alive with market stalls, hot food, and a welcoming atmosphere perfect for a winter outing with friends and family. Vintage vehicle rides will operate from 4pm ($3 per ride) until dusk, offering a nostalgic experience unique to the region.
The Heritage Village, set across more than 11 hectares and featuring original and reconstructed buildings, offers a rare opportunity to step back in time while enjoying community events.
Communities, Culture and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson says this year’s winter markets are about more than just a great evening out.
“These events showcase why the Heritage Village is one of Central Queensland’s most unique attractions,” Councillor Wickerson said.
“Visitors can look forward to a relaxed evening browsing artisan stalls, enjoying dinner and soaking up the entertainment. By offering free entry at our market events, we’re making this unique historical space accessible to everyone. We hope the evening sparks curiosity about our local history and encourages attendees to return to the Village to explore the displays, open seven days a week from 9am to 3pm with entry only $6 per person.”
Heritage Village visitor Peter Murray said he was delighted by the authentic experience on offer, describing the attraction as a must-see destination for locals and visitors alike.
“Rockhampton Heritage Village has been on the to-do list since my wife, and I moved here from Sydney a year ago. What a fabulous surprise to be able to step back in time and be immersed in authentic 19th century surroundings. A unique experience and a credit to all involved,” Mr Murray said.
Owner of Hungary Aussie Krisztina Foeldi loves attending the Heritage Village Markets as a food vendor.
“The Heritage Village Markets are one of our favourite events because they bring people together in such a unique setting,” Mrs Foeldi said.
“Visitors can enjoy great food, support local businesses and spend time with family and friends while experiencing the charm of the Heritage Village. There is always a wonderful atmosphere, and we're excited to be part of it again in August.”
