Over the weekend, Rockhampton Regional Council undertook the final piece of work for the road revamp along Main Street, Park Avenue.

Infrastructure Councillor Ellen Smith said works kicked off at the end of 2022 as part of Council's road maintenance program.

“It was important we undertook these works as the road surface in the area was nearing its end of life,” Cr Smith said.

“Crews undertook the replacement of the kerb and channel and minor pavement repairs with the asphalt overlay and line marking being the last piece of work.

“Main Street is a high-traffic area, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times, and I am happy to see these works undertaken.

“The area has fully reopened, and we ask you to continue to obey all road and speed signs, and school zones.”

Divisional Councillor Donna Kirkland said the area is commonly used and sees residential, school and business traffic.

“It is great to see this high-use area receiving an important upgrade to ensure the area can continue to service the community for many years to come," Cr Kirkland said.

“We want to thank road users, businesses, and residents in the area for your patience while we undertook these works.”
