Rockhampton Regional Council Library has proudly teamed up with disability support organisation, Multicap, to today launch an inspiring art exhibition in celebration of International Day of People with a Disability.

Rockhampton Regional Council Divisional Councillor Drew Wickerson said the launch at the Rockhampton Library was a fantastic way to mark the important day.

“International Day of People with a Disability is celebrated right around the world and aims to raise awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disabilities,” Cr Wickerson said.

“At the same time, it’s about celebrating their achievements and contributions which is why Council is so pleased to partner with Multicap for this year’s exhibition at the Rockhampton Library.

“Multicap is a high needs disability support organisation providing individual, respite, family support networks, opportunities, and programs within the Central Queensland region.

“The Multicap Centre for Creative Arts (CoCA) art studio in Rockhampton held the inaugural and very successful For Art’s Sake exhibition in October.

“The artists involved then decided to continue on their artistic path with a launch of art pieces here in the Rockhampton Regional Library to celebrate International Day of People with a Disability,” Cr Wickerson said.

The exhibition will be on display at the Rockhampton Library until 29 December, 2017.
