Council invests $6.37 million in community support and cultural venues

Rockhampton Regional Council is continuing its commitment to building a region that is a great place to live, with $6.37 million allocated in this year's Budget for community support, cultural venues and libraries.
As part of this investment, around $280,000 has been allocated to Council's Community Assistance Program (CAP), which provides grants and sponsorships to not-for-profit organisations delivering projects, programs and events that benefit the community.
Each year, CAP funding helps support initiatives that enhance the lifestyle of the region. The latest funding round delivered investment across a range of sporting, cultural, educational and wellbeing activities.
As part of this round, a local Men’s Shed will have the tools to continue combating loneliness in the community thanks to the program.
The Fitzroy River Men’s Shed received $3,000 grant through CAP, which helped them buy new tools for projects at the shed.
Applications for round 2 of this year’s CAP funding opens 21 September and closes 02 November 2026.
