The Rockhampton Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has ended its alert, with Tropical Cyclone Alfred no longer a threat to the Rockhampton Region.
Rockhampton Regional Council Mayor Tony Williams said Council has now returned to normal operations after monitoring the cyclone’s progress. “With Alfred no longer expected to impact our region, we have officially moved to ‘Stand Down’ status,” Mayor Williams said. “If anything changes, we’ll make sure the community is kept informed.” Mayor Williams thanked emergency services, Council crews, and residents for their efforts in preparing for the cyclone. “Thankfully, we avoided the worst of TC Alfred, but the planning and preparation from our community and emergency teams made sure we were ready,” Mayor Williams said. “We really appreciate everyone’s cooperation, and while this system has passed, we encourage people to stay prepared as we move through cyclone season.” For future updates and preparedness tips, visit Council’s Emergency Dashboard.
