Rockhampton Regional Council is calling on applications for Round 2 of the Community Assistance Program (CAP).

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said round 2 is now open and is an opportunity for local groups and organisations to gain funding for events or initiatives in the community.

“At its heart, this funding program is about supporting projects and initiatives that really benefit our community, and it’s something we’re very proud to deliver," Cr Wickerson said.

“Over the past few years, we have been able to support some wonderful initiatives and help our community put ideas into action.

“The program consistently supports eligible groups through a number of categories.

“Whether it is new equipment for sporting or theatre groups, venue hire, events, sustainability projects and much more – there are plenty of opportunities for community organisations to benefit from this program.

“Round 2 is open now and will close on 27 February, so make sure you share within the community and get those applications in.”

Water and Environmental Sustainability Councillor Donna Kirkland is encouraging groups to apply for the Environment and Sustainability category.

“This category is specifically designed to support community-led initiatives that align with the objectives of Council’s Sustainability Strategy,” Cr Kirkland said.

“Over the past few years, we have been able to support some wonderful projects, and help our community put sustainability into action.

“If there are community groups out there planning an initiative, activity or program that will contribute to our community now is the time to apply.”

Categories include:

  • Community Development Grants
  • Environment and Sustainability Grants
  • Local Community Events Sponsorship
  • Regional Community Events Sponsorship
