Cedric Archer Park Wet Play Opening

Gracemere families are less than a week away from enjoying the brand new water park at Cedric Archer Park, with a celebratory opening day planned for Monday 13th November. Chair of the Infrastructure Committee and Acting Rockhampton Region Mayor, Cr Tony Williams, and Divisional Cr Ellen Smith said the finishing touches have been applied to the project.

The free opening day event will include a BBQ, jumping castle, and – of course – plenty of fun in the new facilities.

Acting Mayor Cr Williams said he was looking forward to the event.

“It looks absolutely fantastic. I am really excited that it is set to open next week.

“The Waterpark by Beau Corp Aquatics and Constructions is set to have all the bells and whistles, designed for toddlers, children and youth; featuring spray tunnels, mega soakers, tipping bucket and an amenities block.

“Importantly, it’s also creating economic benefits with 26 jobs supported and 19 jobs created through this project which is fantastic news for the local economy,” Acting Mayor Cr Williams said.

Divisional Councillor Ellen Smith said the waterpark will cap off a three phase transformation of the local park.

“Cedric Archer Park has come a long way since works began in 2015 to create a space for families, so we are very excited to be completing the next stage,” Cr Smith said.

“With the construction of the new playground, skate park and amenities block last year, the addition of the water play area will make it one of the Region’s best go-to parks for families.”

The event will take place between 3pm and 6pm on Monday 13 November at Cedric Archer Park, Ian Besch Drive, Gracemere.

The project was funded as part of the State Government’s Works for Queensland Programme.
