CQ Home Assist is here to help

With National Seniors Week about to commence, Rockhampton Regional Council is encouraging our older residents to give CQ Home Assist Secure a call if they need a helping hand.

CQ Home Assist Secure aims to remove some of the practical housing-related difficulties experienced by older people and people with disabilities who wish to remain living in their own home.

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Communities Committee Chair Councillor Rose Swadling said it was important that our most senior residents knew what services were available to them.

“With Seniors Week starting this Saturday, it’s timely to remind our seniors that our CQ Home Assist Secure is here to help with services such as home maintenance, and minor and major home modifications,” Cr Swadling said.

“Our older residents can get help at home with simple tasks like changing a light bulb, installing grab rails, handyman work or even accessing lawn mowing vouchers, however there is an assessment process and criteria to determine each person’s needs.

“We want to ensure that our seniors receive the care and support they need, so I’m really encouraging people to give us a call to find out exactly how we can assist.”

The CQ Home Assist Secure assessment process will determine a person’s eligibility and identify exactly what type of help they may need and what assistance can be provided.

In conjunction with the Australian Government’s recently released My Aged Care website, seniors can now access an abundance of information, support and services from home support to nursing home information.

New clients can register for CQ Home Assist Secure or undertake an assessment by contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or via the website www.myagedcare.gov.au.

Clients already registered with CQ Home Assist Secure and wanting further information can contact the office on 4936 8522 or visit 201 Bolsover Street, Schotia Place, Rockhampton.

CQ Home Assist Secure is funded by the State and Federal Governments and delivered by Rockhampton Regional Council to Central Queensland residents living in the Rockhampton, Gladstone and Central Highlands Regional Council areas, as well as the Livingstone and Banana Shires.
