Do you and the kids love to spin, swing, and slide on the new play equipment at Yewdale Park? You’ll soon be able to do it in the shade, thanks to a $125,000 investment from Rockhampton Regional Council.

Parks, Sport and Public Spaces Councillor, Cherie Rutherford, said being able to stay sun safe while playing was important.

“This brand new 18m by 13m shade will make it even easier to enjoy the recently installed playground equipment.

“The new equipment – which includes climbing structures, a flying fox, swings, and a rodeo board – has been a real hit with families, and this shade structure is the icing on the cake.

“We are adding natural and structural shade to play parks throughout the region, but if there’s something near you that could do with more shade please get in touch to let us know.”

Divisional Councillor Neil Fisher said Rockhampton Regional Council was committed to improving parks and play areas.

“The recent improvements to Yewdale have been brilliant, and this will just finish it off nicely.

“The park will be closed from this week for a couple of weeks while we get this installed, but I’m sure you’ll agree it’s worth it!”
