Rockhampton Regional Council will undertake works along Ann Street, from Penlington Street to the Southside Golf Course entrance within the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens from 6am on Monday 16 June to 4pm on Friday 20 June.

During this period, access to the Rockhampton Zoo, Botanic Gardens, and Rockhampton Golf Course will be via Spencer Street.

The works involve installing protective bollards along the eastern side of Ann Street, continuing the installation previously completed on the western side of the road.

These bollards will aim to protect the historically significant pine trees and their root systems.

The pine trees are cherished not only for their beauty but also for their deep historical, environmental, and heritage significance, many of them are over 100 years old.

These works are essential to safeguard the trees' long-term health and longevity and help maintain the natural character of the Botanic Gardens for future generations.

The works also aim to discourage unsafe parking in sensitive areas, and improve pedestrian safety by creating a clear separation between foot traffic and vehicles near the Gardens entrance.

Council appreciates your patience and understanding during this time.
