Rockhampton Regional Council is reminding residents a number of fees and charges adopted this month are coming into effect shortly.

Mayor Margaret Strelow said for pensioners who are also pet owners, there will be some welcome relief in the hip pocket.

“Any pensioner who has a desexed dog registered with Council will get the registration waived for those animals this year,” Mayor Strelow said.

“We know how important pets are as a companion for seniors and by removing registration fees for desexed animals, it’s one less expense and more money in their pocket.”

Also included in the adopted fees and charges is a fifty cent increase on pool entry to $2.50 to meet a range of rising costs, including electricity.

“Council has held off increasing the pool entry for as long as possible in the face of rising costs, for some years in fact, and this increase will still allow our fantastic pool facilities to be affordable for families,” Mayor Strelow said.

The pool fee increase will apply from August 1st to all Lane 4 Aquatic pools in Rockhampton, Gracemere and Mount Morgan as well as the 42nd Battalion Memorial Pool, North Rockhampton.
