2017/18 Round one RADF Grants open

What’s your next art or performance project? Do you need funding to help make it happen?

Round one of the 2017/18 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is open and applications are being sought for projects that will start after 13 December 2017.

RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Rockhampton Regional Council, supporting professional artists and arts practice in regional areas.

Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council’s Community Services Committee Councillor Rose Swadling encouraged people and groups from all art forms to apply.

“The pool of funding from the community grant program is $60,000 for 2017/18 with 50% of that being contributed by Council, which means RADF can really help local projects which struggle for funding in the more competitive state and federal environment,” Cr Swadling said.

“The grants are decided by a local committee who are familiar with the priorities of the local arts scene, so it’s helping grass roots projects that fit in with local cultural priorities.

“Projects that are run by and benefit young people, Indigenous Australians, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and innovative cross-art forms are encouraged to apply.”

Queensland Premier and Arts Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said RADF delivered on the Queensland Government’s commitment to support vibrant and diverse arts and cultural experiences across the state.

“The Queensland Government through Arts Queensland is contributing $2.08 million to this RADF partnership and will leverage around $2 million from local councils, resulting in about $4 million available to support arts and cultural activities in 2017–18,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“RADF is an enormously successful program - each year more than 500,000 people engage with RADF projects ranging from public art installations to local festivals and arts and cultural workshops, either as practitioners, participants or audience members.

“It delivers a range of social benefits, ensures Queenslanders across the state can engage with the arts in their local community, and strengthens our unique, authentic character and cultural traditions.”

RADF funding can be used in a variety of ways including assisting established and emerging artists with professional development and assisting local arts groups to employ professional artists for specific projects.

Round One for RADF 2017-2018 is now open and applications are being accepted for projects commencing after 13 December 2017. Applications close Monday 13 November 2017.
