The spectacular Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company is returning to Rockhampton for a series of concerts in October, Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow has announced.

The company will perform three public concerts and two schools concerts at the Pilbeam Theatre from 9 to 13 October.

The concerts, titled Colours of Singapore – Celebrating 25 Years of Friendship, are a spectacular, multicultural showcase capturing the sights and sounds of Singapore through a fabulous fusion of music and dance.

The Music and Drama Company is no stranger to the Rockhampton region, having performed here many times since its first visit in 1996. It last performed here in 2012.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said that she was delighted the Music and Drama Company would be returning to perform in Rockhampton.

“Singapore and Rockhampton Region have developed strong ties over the 25 years that the Singapore Armed Forces have been visiting the area for military exercises,” Cr Strelow said.

“The visits by the Music and Drama Company serve to strengthen those ties and foster a greater understanding of each other’s cultures,” she said.

Chandra Mohan, Production Services Manager for the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company said: “Ever since our inaugural performance at Rockhampton, it has held a special place in our hearts. Rockhampton holds many good memories for many of us, and we look forward to creating more. Do join us as we present colourful and vibrant performances, surely to evoke wonderful memories."

The concerts will be held at the Pilbeam Theatre on Friday 9 October at 7.30pm, Saturday 10 October at 7.30pm and Sunday 11 October at 3pm. Performances for schools will be held at the theatre on Monday 12 October and Tuesday 13 October at 10.30am.
