Wine and Watercolour

The fun, relaxed and creative night out you need. Join friends or make new ones at the watercolour workshop that lets you unwind and experiment in a time and space just for you.

This is a two-hour workshop aimed at complete beginners or those who have some drawing and painting experience. This workshop will teach you the practical skills and techniques used in watercolour painting, whether you want to use this medium for illustrative work, typography or fine art painting

Your will learn about the specific properties of watercolour paint, and develop practical skills and techniques in paint application, brush-work, colour mixing, rendering light and shade, tonal value, and design in watercolour painting.

By the end of the workshop, you will have completed your own watercolour painting and be able to take new skills home to continue developing your painting skills.

There will be a different painting subject in each workshop, so participants will have the chance to explore different subject matter and challenge themselves in a new way. Take home your own beautiful, completed artwork after each workshop.

Price: $35 per session | $30 Friends [includes materials, qualified arts educator, accompanied by wine]

Where: Rockhampton Art Gallery, Beatrice Hutton Room (entry via Beatrice Hutton Room, directly off Victoria Parade)

Who: 18+ interested in watercolours, painting, or social and interesting evening activities

About the Tutor 

Helen Kavanagh is a Central Queensland artist and a fun, bubbly educator. She is passionate about the environment. Her artistic pursuits are drawing, painting, photography and sculpting objects from recycled materials.

Helen has a Diploma of Visual Arts from CQU, and teaches workshops at Rockhampton Art Gallery and Mount Morgan School of Arts.
