Messing around with Rockhampton Art Gallery!

Rockhampton Art Gallery has announced a partnership with The Capricornian, with Central Queensland’s only locally owned financial institution sponsoring the Gallery’s Messy Mondays program.

Messy Mondays is an initiative of the gallery, with the aim of inspiring, educating and encouraging young children to take part in art and culture. Held twice each Monday, the program exposes children to creative thinking and problem solving in a relaxed social setting.

Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council’s Community Services Committee Cr Rose Swadling thanked The Capricornian for supporting Rockhampton Art Gallery’s activities. “Sponsors are a vital part of the presentation and programming for all arts organisations and Rockhampton Art Gallery is no exception,” she said.

“It’s great to see The Capricornian supporting such a popular and vital local program as Messy Mondays,” she said.

“It is hoped that by encouraging children and their parents to take part in Gallery activities such as this, it will cement their adult visiting habits,” she said.

Justin Stitt, Manager Member Engagement at The Capricornian said the company was pleased to become involved. “The Capricornian understands the importance of giving back to the community in which we operate,” Mr Stitt said.

“Our focus is on strengthening relationships and supporting worthy organisations and initiatives in Central Queensland, and Rockhampton Art Gallery’s Messy Mondays is one of these.”

Messy Mondays are held at the Rockhampton each Monday (two sessions). More information can be obtained from
