Schools Calendar Competition

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Schools Calendar Competition is designed to recognise and celebrate sustainability action in schools across the Region. Whether your school is making reusable bags, participating in tree planting, developing solar powered vehicles, installing solar panels, exploring water re-use, learning how to look after creeks, composting, tending to vegetable and food gardens, recycling right, reducing food waste, holding nude food days, implementing litter reduction activities, doing nature craft or taking other sustainability actions, we want to hear from you.

To find our more, take a look at the Sustainability in Action! Schools Calendar Competition, which is coordinated by Council’s Environmental Sustainability unit.

Garage Sale Trail – October

Garage Sale Trail is a national day of buying, selling, reusing and meeting the locals.  Garage Sale Trail is for households, community groups, schools, charities, makers and creators; absolutely everyone can get involved!

Each year our participation sees more than 5,000 pre-loved items put up for sale.  This also means around 144 shopping trolleys worth of goods were redistributed locally, rather than ending up in our local landfill.

Holding a Garage Sale? Keep Garage Sale Trail in mind! Visit Garage Sale Trail website for more tips and information.

National Recycling Week – November

National Recycling Week runs in November and is a national annual awareness week about recycling right. For further information please visit the Planet Ark website.

Asbestos Awareness Month – November

Asbestos Awareness Month is an annual awareness month highlighting the dangers or asbestos and the need to be extra cautious when handling and disposing. Our involvement will be added to this page later in the year. For further information please visit the Asbestos Awareness website.
