Smart Technology Streetlights

Smart City technologies have been used around the world to assist governments and businesses to make better, targeted decisions. 

Project scope

The street lighting meets Australian Standards and includes smart poles with LED lighting, digital signage, smart CCTV, parking bay sensors and the technology for visitors to access free WiFi.

  • Stage 3D - Victoria Parade, between Archer St and Fitzroy St. Funded by State Government Building our Regions (Round 2) and Rockhampton Regional Council 
  • Stage 1A, B & E – Quay Street (Fitzroy to Denham Sts) Funded by Rockhampton Regional Council 
  • Stage 1C & D – Denham St, between East St & Quay St. Funded by State Government Building our Regions (Round 2) and Rockhampton Regional Council 
  • Stage 2A & B - Quay Street, between Fitzroy St and Williams St. Funded by State Government Building our Regions (Round 2) and Rockhampton Regional Council 
  • Stage 3B - William Street, between Quay St and East St.  Funded by State Government Building our Regions (Round 2) and Rockhampton Regional Council   
  • Stage 3A - East Street, between Fitzroy St and Williams St. Funded by State Government Building our Regions (Round 2) and Rockhampton Regional Council 
  • Stage 2 – Lower Bank – Quay St, between Williams St and Denham St.  Funded by State Government Building our Regions (Round 2) and Rockhampton Regional Council 
  • CCTV camera installed – North Rockhampton Boat Ramp.  Funded by State Government Safe Night Precinct Grant and Rockhampton Regional Council. 
  • Smart Parking Sensors. Funded by Federal Government Smart Cities and Suburbs Grant (Stage 2)
  • Stage 3C - Quay Street, between Williams St and Derby St. Funded by Council.
  • Stage 3E - Victoria Parade, between North St and Archer St. Funded by Federal Government Safer Communities and Rockhampton Regional Council.

Benefits

  • Rockhampton is amongst the first Australian cities to focus on the use of these technologies to grow the economy and improve liveability of the area.
  • Improve the safety of patrons in the CBD area particularly after dark.
