Paver Rectification Trial on Quay Street

PAVER RECTIFICATION TRIAL ON QUAY STREET

Rockhampton Regional Council will be undertaking a trial of relaying sections of pavers on Quay Street. The trial evaluation of rotating the direction of pavers to align with vehicle movement is a necessary step to establish a well-designed solution.  Following the 12-month study, the Council will attempt to recover costs through the firm deemed responsible for the paver failure.

What’s involved?

The works will be carefully carried out in two phases to minimise the impact.  Each phase will involve works taking place in two separate sections on Quay Street (between Williams Street & Fitzroy Street).  The partial sections of road will be fenced off for the safe removal of cracked pavers and the installation of new pavers in a different direction.  Following the re-laying of pavers, the section will be barricaded off to pedestrians and traffic as to not place any load on the freshly paved test sections during curing.

We are pleased to advise that Quay Street will remain open to one-way traffic throughout the duration of the works.
