Rockhampton Regional Council has prepared a range of educational resources designed to help children learn about, and prepare for, emergencies and disasters that they may experience in the Rockhampton Region.

In the Be Disaster Ready Story Book join Olivia and Jack as they learn about flooding, bushfires, heatwaves, pandemics and other disasters in the Region, and how they can stay safe by helping their family prepare a Household Emergency Plan, Emergency Kit and Evacuation Kit.

Play the Snakes and Ladders Game(PDF, 1MB) to make your way home to safety by avoiding flooded roads, broken power lines, and taking steps to prepare your home and pets during a disaster.

Play the Chatterbox(PDF, 915KB) to learn everything you need to know about keeping you and your family safe during a disaster.

Other Resources

In the Play School Everyday Helpers series, Play School team up with Australian Red Cross and The Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR). With the help of some very special guests from the emergency services, we share early childhood safety messages relevant during times of emergency.

Get Ready Queensland has launched its first interactive online game the Get Ready Challenge which challenges Queensland kids to prepare for future disasters and severe weather.
