In Queensland, all dogs must be:
In accordance with the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, dogs must be registered before reaching 12 weeks of age or within 14 days of moving into the Rockhampton Region.
In accordance with the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, dogs must be microchipped before: reaching 12 weeks of age; being sold; or being given away.
As a pet owner you are responsible for providing an adequate enclosure to contain your pet to ensure the safety of other people, animals and wildlife.
Owning multiple dogs comes with responsibilities. If you fail to comply with the laws associated with owning multiple dogs you could face a fine.
A well behaved dog will have a much better quality of life, as its owners will want to spend more time with it and it will be much better behaved out in public.
The Queensland Government has introduced new laws to promote the responsible breeding of dogs. Any person who breeds a dog requires a Supply Number within 28 days of a litter being born.
