Reason for the engagement

Our waste; it’s not just a load of rubbish!

Rockhampton Regional Council has drafted a Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan (2016-2024). This Plan challenges current waste management performance and strives to achieve clear, set targets for waste reduction and diversion for our Region. 

Over the lifetime of this plan, Council will achieve an overall reduction in waste to landfill of 15%.

Through the implementation of this Plan, Council will meet the objectives outlined in the Queensland Waste Avoidance and Resource Productivity Strategy (2014 - 2024).

Residents and businesses within Rockhampton Regional Council local government area.

How to have your say

View the Draft Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan 2016-2024(PDF, 12MB) and provide feedback by Friday 13 May 2016.  The feedback period is now closed.

Major Findings

Feedback received from the community will be considered by Council for incorporation into the Plan. Changes made to the Plan as a result of feedback to be advised upon Council decision.

Outcome

Council will review the feedback received about the draft Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan for consideration prior to final adoption.
