Community Development
Council provides a range of capacity building and developmental support activities to individuals, groups and communities across the local government area to help build a safe, caring and healthy community.
Capacity building sessions focusing on areas such as parenting, financial literacy, mental and emotional health are held throughout the year at locations across the local government area.
Council also embraces the diversity of cultures that form our community and organizes activities to welcome and celebrate our diversity, including:
- Bi-monthly Cultural Teashop to share information about different cultures
- Annual Cultural Festival held at the Rockhampton Heritage Village
- Harmony Day Celebrations
- Conversational Corner held at the Rockhampton Regional Library every Saturday to give an opportunity to practise English language skills
Community Capacity Building Programs
As part of Council’s Community Capacity Building Program the information sessions will cover a wide range of topics that are aimed at equipping parents and carers with skills that may make parenting a little easier and more memorable.
Today’s world is one of rapid technological and social changes that directly impacts on us all and these sessions are designed to help tackle some of the challenges in the following areas.
