Having a sun safe picnic in Cedric Archer Park is now even easier thanks to the installation of new tables and shade structures by Rockhampton Regional Council.

Parks Portfolio Spokesperson, Councillor Cherie Rutherford, said the project would be great for the whole community.

“Cedric Archer Park is fast becoming one of our destination parks, thanks to the significant investment Council has made over the last few years.

“The water play area, pump track, and the work at Paradise Lagoon all mean that people are visiting from far beyond Gracemere to enjoy what this park has to offer.

“The seats and shade structures will provide yet another spot to sit and enjoy this lovely area, all while staying out of the sun.”

Divisional Councillor Ellen Smith said that many local residents had asked for more shaded areas in the park.

“As residents are spending more and more time here thanks to the upgrade work we have done, lots of people mentioned to me how great it would be to have more shaded seating areas.

“I was pleased to get Councillors support to include this necessary addition to the park in the budget.

“It’s great to have these installed just in time for summer too.”
