In response to Covid-19, Rockhampton Regional Council has cancelled all public programs and events (large or small) in all Council facilities for the remainder of March and April, and all large council-run public events in May.

This includes public events and activities scheduled at the Rockhampton Library, Rockhampton Art Gallery, Heritage Village, Schotia Place, Bauhinia Place and other facilities.

Some of the major events include the Best in Business Awards, the Heritage Festival and the 7 Rocky River Run. Discussions will take place with our veteran community to ensure an appropriate response on ANZAC Day.

The Agricultural Show in June has also been cancelled and Council will keep a watching brief on other Council organised events or events held at Council facilities in June.

For community groups or clubs who lease Council owned facilities or venues, they are to determine whether or not their events will go ahead, so long as they comply with the Federal Government’s restrictions.

As of Thursday, you will be able, and indeed encouraged, to borrow double the number of items from Rockhampton Regional Libraries and can do so for a longer period of time. This means, up to 40 books can be borrowed for a period of six weeks and online renewal is available for a further six weeks.

Council also has a substantial business continuity plan in place to make sure that essential community services continue and has charged the incoming Council to consider an economic stimulus package early in the new term.
