The Southside Memorial Pool wet play area has undergone a significant transformation and is now ready for families to make a splash as the weather warms up.

Parks Sport and Public Spaces Councillor Cherie Rutherford said the reopening will be welcome news to families with little ones, especially with school holidays just around the corner.

“These works were carried out during the cooler months to minimise any disruptions, but I am sure our returning visitors will be happy with the improvements,” Cr Rutherford said.

“The new soft fall surface not only looks fantastic but it is now much safer for the kiddies to play on.

“We have also given the play equipment a cut and polish to really bring it back to life.”

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said the improvements were much needed and will extend the life of the facility.

“The existing soft fall product had come to the end of its life and the new product was chosen after some extensive research,” Cr Wickerson said.

“We wanted to make sure that the new soft fall material was a far better product – improving safety and longevity of the facility.

“The product we have installed will not only last much longer but it has superior anti slip properties - making it much safer as well.”
