Rockhampton Regional Council this week allocated more than $20,000 across seven organisations through the Community Assistance Program (CAP).

Communities Councillor Drew Wickerson said this is the second round of funding to be allocated through the CAP this financial year.

“This is a dedicated program that’s all about supporting a wide variety of events and projects that really benefit our community in different ways,” said Cr Wickerson.

“In this round alone we’re able to support projects that benefit sports and fishing in our Region, bring our community together, and provide assistance in times of crisis.

“This round of funding allocations will assist Brothers Australian Football Club in providing more seating at Kele Park, as well as the Fitzroy River Fish Stocking Association in restocking  the Fitzroy River with Barramundi Fingerlings.

“We’re also seeing funds go toward Multicultural Australia’s 2021 Multifaith dinner, as well as to the Zonta Club of Rockhampton - an organisation working with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) to provide clothing kits for victims of sexual assault.

“Time and time again this funding program has proved its value. It is a pleasure to be able to support these organisations who work every day for the benefit of our community.”
