Rockhampton Regional Council has now launched a one-stop hub for information related to the Coronavirus situation.

CEO Evan Pardon said the hub would pop up when people first went to Council’s website and included the latest announcements, a list of Council facilities that had been impacted and information on services such as Rose’s Angels.

“One of the other things on this page is a local businesses directory where traders can put up their details on what services they’re offering at the moment whether that’s by home delivery, takeaways or remote drop offs,” Mr Pardon said.

“We’ve seen so much goodwill in the region at the moment through the media and on Facebook in promoting these businesses, and this directory will help complement that work by having a centralised listing.

“We’ll then be promoting that list on our Council Facebook Page regularly so it’s a great way for local businesses to get the message out and for people to support them.”

Local businesses looking to add themselves to the list can register their details at https://www.rockhamptonregion.qld.gov.au/AboutCouncil/News-and-announcements/COVID19-Community-Information/Local-Business-Directory.

Economic Development Manager Jesse Gillard said with the restrictions on the business community, it was more important than ever for people to find ways to shop locally.

“Council is going to be running a number of other initiatives through Advance Rockhampton to support the business community.

“Council is partnering with Australian Small Business Advisory Services (ASBAS) to deliver a number of webinars for the wider business community on increasing their digital presence through building websites, using online marketing and promoting themselves through social media.

“Now more than ever we all need to be savvy online and Facebook and social media are critical ways to reach customers and do business. The next webinar is on 6 April. I encourage small business owners to attend who want to strengthen your online presence and social media reach.

“Council, through Advance Rockhampton, is regularly talking to businesses and we will continue to look at ways we can support business through these very challenging times,” Mr Gillard said.

Residents are encouraged to follow Council’s Facebook Page to keep up to date with the latest announcements as well as checking in on the Coronavirus Hub on Council’s webpage.
