Community groups and charities to benefit at Rocky Show

Rockhampton Regional Council is calling local charities and community groups to get in touch in order to benefit at the Rocky Show!
Council, in partnership with local family owned business Kanga Bins, has created an opportunity for community groups and charities to earn 10c for every eligible drink container they collect at the 2019 Rockhampton Regional Show through the Queensland Government’s Containers for Change refund program.
Chair of Council’s Waste Committee Councillor Neil Fisher said this will be a great opportunity for those who get involved, and that he is grateful to Kanga Bins for helping to make it possible.
“This will be a fantastic way to bring in funds for our local charities and community groups,” said Cr Fisher.
“All your group needs to do is provide ten to twenty volunteers throughout the Show who can collect, sort, count, and bag containers.
“Every eligible container your volunteers collect is another 10c that will go straight to your organisation.
“Kanga Bins will provide all of the resources needed to make collecting containers as easy as possible, so, if you’ve got the volunteers, head over to the Rocky Show website to submit an Expression of Interest form and get involved!”
Peter McCasker, Owner and Operations Manager of Kanga Bins, said that the refunds will add up quickly for organisations.
“It’s likely that every person who attends the Show will use at least one drink container per day. That’s 10c from every person coming through the gate each day,” said Mr McCasker.
“We’re really happy to be part of any opportunity to help out local charities, and we think this could really benefit those who get involved.”
