On Saturday 27 August thousands of pop culture enthusiasts will feel the magic as they step foot into the largest single day pop culture convention in regional Queensland, CapriCon.

Celebrating its 5th anniversary the CapriCon Steampunk and Pop Culture Convention will see international celebrities, major cosplay guests, comic artists and authors descend on Rockhampton for the biggest CapriCon our community has experienced.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said it’s great to have such a significant event back on the calendar with a stellar program after two years of COVID cancellations.

“While event organisers weren’t able to snag Chris Hemsworth or Robert Downey Jr., the program line-up for 2022 is impressive to say the least,” Mayor Williams said.

“Attendees can expect to be wowed by the full line-up of guests from movie stars to comic artists, 60+ trade sites, pro-wrestling shows, light saber training academy, kids cartoon workshops and three full stage programs.”

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson (and avid cosplayer) is excited to see the huge interest already from our local cosplay community in preparation for CapriCon.

“Pre-registration is currently open for the junior and open categories and the addition of a Cosplay Parade to the program this year will be a great opportunity for cosplayers of all skill levels to get involved. Game of Thrones and Doctor Who cosplayers might spot a prop or two at CapriCon for some great photo opportunities.” Councillor Wickerson said.

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Greg Bowden is proud to see Advance Rockhampton deliver the largest single day pop culture convention in regional Queensland.

“With Aussie leading man Dan Ewing, Simpson comic artist Dean Rankine and top notch professional cosplayers gracing the CapriCon stage this is the must-attend pop culture event this August,” Mr Bowden said.

“Showcasing all things cosplay, comics, collectibles, anime, movies and gaming the countdown to CapriCon is officially on. With entry only $5* - secure your tickets today at capriconrockhampton.com.au”
