Advance Rockhampton to host Jobs Readiness Expo

Published on 24 November 2017

On the back of recent announcements from the resources, health, disability and defence sectors, the Rockhampton Region is gearing up for economic growth, local job creation and more private sector investment.

To help locals prepare for the windfall of employment opportunities, Rockhampton Regional Council’s Advance Rockhampton team, is hosting a ‘Gear up Rocky Jobs Readiness Expo’ next Wednesday.

Acting Mayor Councillor Tony Williams said training and recruitment providers will be on deck for those looking to be upskilled, while some major industry players will also have a presence, providing information on upcoming jobs and entry level requirements.

“Now is the time for anyone looking to take the next step in their career or seeking employment to come along to the Jobs Readiness Expo to find out the jobs our diverse industries have available,” Cr Williams said.

“We see the Readiness Expo as a place that will help people understand what industries are expanding or coming to Rockhampton and the types of roles and skills that are required to fulfil these new positions.

“We want to see locals in our Region have the best opportunity when it comes to employment, so this is our way of creating that link and we hope everyone can take advantage of this stepping stone.”
