We love our redeveloped aquatic centre!

The verdict is in! We love our redeveloped aquatic centre, and the new wet play area!

In December 2014 Rockhampton Regional Council officially opened the Wet Play Area at the 2nd World War Memorial Aquatic Centre. Since then approximately 51,844 patrons have walked through the door.

Chair of Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee, Councillor Cherie Rutherford is ecstatic that the numbers are so high.

“We knew the Wet Play Area would be a popular destination and the visitation numbers has exceeded our expectations,” said Cr Rutherford.

"This is equivalent to having 59 per cent of the regions total population walking through the doors in just two months.

“We worked hard to make sure this project was delivered in time for summer holidays and it is great to see so many people using this facility.”

Previous year’s attendance for December 2013 and January 2014 at the facility was 11,973.
