Regional Arts Fund Community Workshops Overcome barriers for regional artists
Regional artists and arts workers are invited to attend a free Regional Arts Fund (RAF) Community Workshops facilitated by Flying Arts Alliance at Rockhampton Art Gallery on Sunday 9 June to gain an insight into how they can access funding to support their next artistic program, professional development or initiative.
The RAF provides grants of up to $30,000 to benefit regional and remote arts practitioners, arts workers, audiences and communities across wide-ranging disciplines such as dance, theatre, visual arts and music.
In this free workshop, artists and arts workers will gain a better understanding of how to apply for the RAF, including choosing the correct funding stream, finer points of addressing criteria and how to formulate a suitable budget for proposed activities.
A spokesperson from Flying Arts – the organization that administers to the fund in Queensland – will direct the workshop and provide ample opportunity for artists and arts workers to ask any questions that will assist them to prepare their applications.
Flying Arts CEO Kerryanne Farrer looks forward to another opportunity to engage directly with regional artists and arts workers in their own communities, and facilitate greater access to the RAF.
“Flying Arts has been contributing to a thriving visual arts sector in Queensland for many years; with these workshops, we hope to make applying for RAF funding easier for artists in the regions,” she said.
Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council’s Communities Committee, Cr Rose Swadling, said that Regional Arts Fund grants are a great asset to Rockhampton Region artists and organisations hoping to invigorate the local artistic community.
“Along with our own state and locally funded grant programs, this Federal government funded program is another avenue that could help regional artists develop their arts practice,” Cr Swadling said.
Flying Arts Alliance will be hosting the next RAF Community Workshop on Sunday 9 June at the Beatrice Hutton Room, Rockhampton Art Gallery.
