Rockhampton Regional Council will be staging an exciting new event, the Children’s Springtime Festival, in the coming September school holidays.
The Children’s Springtime Festival will cater specifically for children in the local community, from birth up to 12 years of age.
Chair of the Community and Customer Service Committee, Cr Rose Swadling said she thought that families would enthusiastically embrace the opportunity that this festival would bring to their children’s enjoyment.
“Council has for a long time hosted school holiday activities across a number of its venues, however a festival such as this offers up a new level of entertainment,” Cr Swadling said.
Council was successful in obtaining State Government funding through the State’s Q150 Celebrations to host the festival.
Organisers have over 40 activities planned as part of the festival, which will be held at the Rockhampton Heritage Village from 9.30am until 3.00pm on Sunday 27 September 2009.
These activities will include the Mt Archer Lions Club Baby Show, various sporting workshops hosted by Council’s Kickstart CQ program, a Guinness World Record attempt, displays, rides, demonstrations and stalls.
Specialist workshops will also provide opportunities to attendees to indulge in Reader's Theatre, Music and Play (through Play Music Play sessions), contemporary art and Aboriginal art.
All families, particularly those seeking something different during the school holidays, are encouraged to mark the event in their diaries.
Entry to the festival will be by gold coin donation. For more information please telephone 4936 1026.
