Bauhinia House Senior Citizens Centre operates from 8.00am - 4.34pm Monday to Friday. Two Senior Citizens Organisations operate from Bauhinia House being the North Rockhampton Senior Citizens Club and the North Rockhampton Pensioners League. Hall for Hire

Bauhinia House is available to hire. The hall contains a commercial kitchen, bar area, sound system, chairs and tables, piano and organ which are available to the hirers. Please note: The hall is not available for 18^th or 21^st Birthday Celebrations.

CQ Home Assist Secure

The Program

Home Assist Secure is a program funded by Department of Communities (Housing and Homelessness), and aims to remove some of the practical housing related difficulties experienced by older people and people with disabilities who wish to remain living in their own home.

In Central Queensland the program is delivered by Rockhampton Regional Council into the four local government areas of Central Queensland including Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana Shires. A central office is located in Rockhampton. Currently the program has over 10 000 clients utilising the service.

Services

The Home Assist Secure program provides free information, referral and subsidised assistance to eligible clients.

Information and referral is available about home maintenance, repairs, minor modifications and home security. Project staff can also refer and assist, if necessary, with employing tradespeople, contracting experts, or planning future work.

Subsidised assistance gives support to people who are unable to obtain alternative assistance with minor home maintenance, repairs, modifications and security which relate to their health, safety, and security.

Eligibility

To be eligible for free information and referral, you must be a home owner or live in private rental housing, and be 60 years and over or of any age with a disability.

In addition to the above, to receive subsidised assistance for work in your home, you need to be receiving a Commonwealth Government pension or payment and unable to make use of alternative forms of assistance, such as Veterans Affairs, family or friends.

Home Assist Secure does not undertake maintenance or repairs that are considered to be the responsibility of the landlord (lessor) under the residential tenancies legislation.

The site office is situated at 120 William Street, Rockhampton, with Field Officers undertaking site visits in other locations as required.
