The Strengthening Family Connections Program aims to improve the wellness of families residing on the Capricorn Coast by offering a range of innovative family support services. Strengthening Family Connections operates from a strengths-based client-centred framework, to work with families who have children aged 0-18 years who find themselves in vulnerable situations.
The program operates from the premise that clients are partners in the change process and acknowledges people's own expertise and recognises and believes that most families are committed to do well for their children. It also recognises the cultural, social and economic context of the family and delivers a holistic program focusing on early intervention and prevention services.
Services offered by Strengthening Family Connections include:
- Case Management
- Family Outreach and Support
- Family Counselling
- Individual Counselling
- Parenting Support
- Therapeutic Groups
The Strengthening Family Connections program can accept referrals from community and government agencies to work with families who find themselves in vulnerable situations and will also accept self referrals. Families are referred with their consent or can self refer. Referral forms can be faxed, mailed or hand delivered to the office. All services are provided at no cost.
Strengthening Family Connections is funded by the Department of Communities. The service is staffed by a full time Coordinator, two Family Connections Workers and a part time Administration Officer.
