Bell Park Redevelopment

Rockhampton Regional Council adopted a Regional Playground Strategy on Tuesday 11 October, committing $300,000 a year for the next five years to the development of new district and local playgrounds across the Region.

Emu Park has been selected as the first to receive a district playground under the new strategy and Council is engaging with the local community this weekend to find out what they want to see at their District Playground and gather feedback from the community on the Bell Park Master Plan.

A meeting has been scheduled for this Saturday 15 October at 11am at the Emu Park Community Hall, Hill Street.

Council's Sport and Recreation Committee Chair, Councillor Cherie Rutherford said Council is consulting with the community to seek feedback and gather thoughts on their vision for the new District Playground and gather their feedback on the Bell Park Master Plan.

"The new district playground will cater for multiple ages and will be capable of supporting short and long term visits.

"Other facilities that could also be incorporated in the design include shade, picnic areas, seating, kick around green open space, bikeway/pedestrian access and car parking and toilets.

"The new district playground will be a great asset to the Emu Park community and I urge the local community to take the opportunity to have their say.

"Council is also seeking feedback on the Bell Park Master Plan for this heritage listed site," she said.
