Historical and contemporary materials relating to the local area are maintained at the Mount Morgan Library and in the Central Queensland collection of the Rockhampton Regional Library. Historical information relating to the Mount Morgan local area can also be found at Mount Morgan Historical Museum.
The Central Queensland collection includes printed materials, audio and video cassettes, oral histories, maps, plans, and photographs, as well as records of families, business firms, sporting and other community groups.
Assistance with research into local history can be provided by our staff when you visit our libraries.

The History Centre at Rockhampton Regional Library provides a range of research materials for local and family history including indexes to births, deaths, marriages, cemetery and pioneer records, shipping and immigration records, and online databases. A family and local history book collection is also available at the History Centre for browsing and research.
The History Centre archives collection includes printed materials, audio and video cassettes, oral histories, maps, plans, and photographs, as well as records of families, business firms, sporting and other community groups.
History Centre materials are only available for use within the Readers Room and computers and microform readers are available to access the resources in a variety of formats.
The History Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am til 5pm. Staff will provide assistance with accessing materials, research tips, or using equipment; or may undertake research for you for a fee.
Some history resources are available at other branches of the Rockhampton Regional Libraries, including some items for loan.
The History Centre holds a significant collection of photographs relating to Central Queensland, covering the period from early settlement to the present.
Significant in the collection are approximately 55,000 Mercer Studio negatives of photographs of local people, places and events from 1932 - 1995, and approximately 300,000 Morning Bulletin negative and proof sheets from 1971 - 1997. Copies may be purchased.
Donations of original or copies of photographs are possible to extend this valuable Central Queensland resource.
