A series of sessions at the Rockhampton Regional Library where participants can discover what makes our local writers tick. From songwriters and poets, to editors, authors and literary critics, we invite you to join us on a fascinating literary journey of discovery.
- Sessions are free, and open to all.
- Enjoy drinks and nibblies and meet other readers, writers, and literary connoisseurs.
- Sessions may feature a talk; question and answer opportunities; recitations; and multi-media presentations.
- Enjoy a relaxed, informal evening.
FEBRUARY
STEPHEN ANASTASI
Wednesday 29 February, 7pm-8pm
Stephen Anastasi is a physicist, mathematician, philosopher and author of two young adult e-books including the science fiction/fantasy work The Runes of Ire . He is presently writing The Brotherhood of the Apocalypse.
The author will focus on his experiences of riding the crest of publishing opportunities in the e-book market.

Historian and scholar Marilyn Dooley will guide participants on a brief journey through the history of Australian radio. Respected National Film and Sound Archives researcher, Marilyn has enjoyed a rich and varied career sharing her passion for Australian and Chinese history over many years.

Natalie is a writer of young adult science fiction/fantasy, and member of various online writers’ forums including We love YA, and the Romance Writers of Australia. Her passion for environmental reform is reflected in her work which has been praised by well-respected writing mentors. When she is not writing she is juggling work raising five children and teaching high school science.

STAN MELLICK

Meet former University of Queensland senior lecturer and published literary expert Stan Mellick as he discusses his seminal work Writers’ footprints (2010) - an important work about 530 writers, poets and dramatists who have written about locations in the Sunshine State from 1959 to the present. Stan will cover the genesis, research, content and publication of Writers’ footprints -- with passing references to Rockhampton, and some of the writers personally met by the author, including David Malouf, Janet Turner Hospital and Bruce Dawe as well as Thea Astley, Jack Lindsay, Xavier Herbert, John Blight, David Rowbotham, and Estelle Pinney.
