Community Assistance Program

Through this funding program Council assists community organisations to provide activities, programs and projects that contribute to the quality of life of our region.

The Community Grants Scheme provides 'one off' assistance to projects and events that aim to:

  • Build the capacity and self sufficiency of communities and disadvantaged groups;
  • Strengthen social cohesion, inclusion and collaboration; and
  • Enhance the Region's overall liveability.

The Corporate Sponsorship Scheme provides 'one off' assistance to projects that provide:

  • Tangible benefits to Council from being a sponsor; and
  • Identified economic and community development outcomes for the Region.

Funding Rounds

Funding rounds will be announced via Council's website and local media each year.

Level of Financial Assistance

The amount of funds available under the program will be subject to the adoption of Council's annual budget and will vary each year depending upon the fiscal position of Council, changing community needs and corporate priorities.

Assessment and Approval Processes

Applications received will be assessed by a panel in accordance with Council's Community Assistance Program Policy and Procedures. Following a formal resolution of Council all applicants will be notified within ten working days of the outcome of the process. Successful applicants will be forwarded a Community Assistance Program agreement.

Acquittal Requirements

A report describing the nature of expenditure and how it benefited the community must be prepared on the supplied form by the recipient organisation and sent to Council no later than eight weeks from the completion of the project.

Acknowledgements

Acknowledgement of grant and sponsorship funding is required by Council on all printed material, in media advertisements and releases, and on signage at events. The number and quality of the benefits provided to Council should directly relate to the requested amount.
