Lodging a Development Application

If your proposal is 'assessable development' you will be required to lodge a development application for a planning permit.  If your development application is complex, you may wish to seek the services of a suitably qualified professional (such as a developer or consultant town planner).

Application Process

For more information refer to the Queensland Government's Queensland Planning System website.

If you have any queries about the development application process, please contact the Duty Planner on (07) 4932 9000 or 1300 22 55 77. Alternatively you can email dutyplanner@rrc.qld.gov.au.

Prelodgement Meetings

It is recommended that large scale and complex development proposals have a prelodgement meeting with Council before the lodgement of an application. The purpose of a prelodgement meeting is to provide an opportunity for applicants and Council Officers from various specialist areas including town planning, engineering, environmental health and natural resource management to discuss key issues relevant to a specific proposal. Prospective applicants will be provided a prelodgement meeting request form and will need to provide the following information at least five business days prior to the proposed meeting date:

  • A proposal plan, including any proposed layout and/or elevation plans
  • A brief description of the proposal
  • An agenda or summary of specific issues that you wish to discuss and
  • Details of alternative solutions to specific issues or non-compliances identified in the Planning Scheme.

Please ensure you nominate your preferred meeting date and time on the Development Proposal Prelodgement Meeting Request Form(PDF, 136KB).  Council will make every effort to meet your request and contact you to confirm the meeting booking.
