Council are proud of wins in a number of state, national and international awards. In 2009 Rockhampton won a Bronze award at the prestigious International Awards for Liveable Communities (LivCom) and was named Queensland's Tidiest Town. The same year, Yeppoon Main Beach was also awarded Queensland's Cleanest Beach and in 2010 Rockhampton was awarded the National Water Conservation Award in the Australian Tidy Towns competition.

Tidy Towns Awards
Rockhampton was awarded the National Water Conservation Award during the presentation of the National Tidy Towns Awards for 2010 which were announced in Canberra on Friday 23 April 2010.
Rockhampton was following up its award win in 2009 - being named Queensland's Tidiest Town at the Ergon Energy Tidy Towns Awards, which were held in Brisbane on 24 August 2009.
Praise was heaped on the City at the awards ceremony. Tor Hundloe, the chair of Keep Australia Beautiful, congratulated Rockhampton on its environmental initiatives such as the introduction of domestic recycling bins.
Rockhampton also competed in the National Tidy Towns Awards 2009 and although didn't win the main award, Rockhampton was awarded the National Water Conservation Award during the presentation which were announced in Canberra on Friday 23 April 2010.

Clean Beach Challenge
Yeppoon Main Beach was announced as the inaugural winner of the 2009 Keep Australia Beautiful's "Caring for our Country" Clean Beach Award during a ceremony in Brisbane on Tuesday 15 December 2009.
Paddy Delalande from Rockhampton Regional Council was also announced as the winner of the Outstanding Individual or Group Award for outstanding contribution to the beach community and Emu Park State School took home the Young Legends Award for demonstrated accomplishment in youth initiated or led activities.
The Clean Beach Challenge is a fun, competitive program to help keep Queensland's beaches litter free, and to encourage local governments and their communities to work together to best manage beach environments.
Launched in 1998 and celebrating 12 years, the competition challenges Queensland's coastal communities to prove they have the State's cleanest beach.

International Awards for Liveable Communities
Congratulations Rockhampton Region and hold your head high - we have been awarded bronze at the prestigious International Awards for Liveable Communities (LivCom Awards) in Pilsen in the Czech Republic.
The LivCom Awards finals were held in Prague between 8 and 12 October 2009, where Rockhampton Region was judged in the 75,000 - 200,000 population category. The Region was judged on our vision for the region, current and planned activities to enhance the landscape, how sensitively we manage the local environment, the way in which we manage our heritage facilities, how we work toward community sustainability and community lifestyles.
Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council, Cr Brad Carter said he was immensely proud of the Rockhampton Region community and was thrilled to have showcased the liveability of our region on the world stage.
