With a vision for our region to become the most liveable community in the world, Rockhampton Regional Council is committed to supporting the local needs of the people who live, work and play in this region - now and into the future.
To do this, Council has committed significant resources to developing a Whole of Region Framework: "Rockhampton Region - Towards 2050" to guide planning for our future infrastructure, social and environmental needs. The Rockhampton Region - Towards 2050 will also provide overall strategic direction for the development of the new Regional Planning Scheme, which is a major project currently being undertaken by Council.
Further information regarding the Rockhampton Region - Towards 2050 project and the Rockhampton Regional Planning Scheme can be obtained by following the relevant links below.
The second major project which is also currently underway is the development of the Priority Infrastructure Plan, which will be an integral part of Council's planning scheme, and will bring together Council's land use and infrastructure planning strategies.
Information on these plans can be obtained by following the relevant links below.

Priority Infrastructure Plan (PIP)
Priority Infrastructure Plans (PIPS) assist with the integration of land use and infrastructure planning in planning schemes to ensure the supply of trunk infrastructure in a coordinated, efficient and orderly way, including encouraging urban development in areas where adequate infrastructure exists or can be provided efficiently. Accordingly, Priority Infrastructure Plans are a key mechanism to assist in planning and managing urban growth.
