Rockhampton Riverfront Revitalisation

Thanks to the valuable feedback given by community members and stakeholders during the recent public consultation, Rockhampton Regional Council and Queensland Government have completed the Rockhampton Riverfront Revitalisation plan. 

The Council have engaged local design consultants to provide design concepts and budget costings. These design concepts have now been completed for the following projects:

1. Riverside markets with amenities and new pedestrain access from Victoria Parade, located on the CBD Riverside carpark
2. Fitness trail with exercise stations
3. Pilbeam Theatre Lookout on Victoria Parade opposite the Pilbeam Theatre
4.Queens Park link to Moores Creek with a childrens playground including upgraded street lighting and security
5.Moores Creek Lookout and fishing platform
6.Upgrade of the boat ramp on the northern river bank in Cyril Connell fields with amenities, parking, lookout and fishing platform.

John Leak Memorial

The John Leak War Memorial has been completed by Hutchinson Builders together with the Councils Parks section who completed the landscaping. The stunning mosaic artwork was created by two local artists, Liz Hills and Adrienne Wall.

The monument was officially unveiled on 20 April 2012 by Mr Ted Malone member for Mirani and his Worship the Mayor, Cr Brad Carter. Peter Townsend the grandson of John Leak also attended the ceremony.
