Pound Release Information
If your pet is impounded, you will be required to pay a pound release fee, in addition the registration fees if it is not currently registered. All such fees are required to be paid before release of the animal. The pound release fee covers the cost of keeping the animal while impounded at an Animal Pound Facility.
As a pet owner you are responsible for providing an adequate enclosure to keep the animal on your property, and prevent it from wandering escaping or encroaching onto a neighbours or public place, to ensure the safety of other people, animals and wildlife. If your pet is found wandering at large without any type of identification, it will be impounded. You will be issued with penalty infringement notices for an animal wandering at large, failing to keep an animal under effective control and failing to provide an adequate enclosure. Please note a Community Compliance Officer may attend your premise to assess your enclosure and compliance notices may also be issued.
Keep me home - Animals wandering at large
Keep me secure - Fencing and enclosures for pets
Pound release fees and penalty infringement notices will apply for both domestic animals and livestock.
While all care is taken at Council's Animal Pound Facilities, your pet has been away from your property and exposed to other animals both prior to and during its impoundment. It is recommended that you consider vaccinating your pet, consult your vet for advice.
