School Artwork Competition

The Rockhampton Regional Waste and Recycling school artwork competition is now open to year 4, 5 and 6 students in the Rockhampton Region!  This year students are asked to create their own comic strip featuring themselves as ‘Recycling Heroes’.  The school artwork competition is run throughout Term 2, 2016 and entries are due by Friday 24 June 2016.

The winning artworks win prizes and will feature in the 2017 Rockhampton Regional Waste and Recycling - Recycling Heroes Community Calendar. The calendar is distributed to the community as part of our National Recycling Week activities and is provided to primary schools in our Region, giving students and your school the opportunity to be recognised for their heroic recycling artwork efforts.

As part of this year’s artwork competition, teachers can request a classroom visit from our very own Recycling Heroes! The Recycling Heroes encourage students to ‘sort it, clean it, crush it’ when recycling and tell them what happens to our recycling at the Material Recovery Facility.

For further competition details contact (07) 4932 9000 or 1300 22 55 77 or email enquiries@rrc.qld.gov.au.

Garage Sale Trail

Garage Sale Trail is a national day of buying, selling, reusing and meeting the locals.  Garage Sale Trail is for households, community groups, schools, charities, makers and creators; absolutely everyone can get involved!

In 2015, Garage Sale Trail was held on Saturday 24 October. From our Region, 24 garage sales registered for the trail.  Together these sales saw more than 5,000 pre-loved items put up for sale.  This also means around 144 shopping trolleys worth of goods were redistributed locally, rather than ending up in our local landfill.

Holding a Garage Sale? Keep Garage Sale Trail held on Saturday 22 October 2016 in mind! Visit Garage Sale Trail website for more tips and information.
