What is Zero Harm?
Rockhampton Regional Council became a Zero Harm organisation in October 2008. Zero Harm essentially means we believe as an organisation, that it is absolutely not acceptable for a person to be harmed at work – no exceptions. We will work not only on our WHS compliance, but on innovative programs to reduce risks to our staff and contractors.
What does it mean for Rockhampton Regional Council?
Rockhampton Regional Council has signed onto the Zero Harm at Work Leadership Forum with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
Rockhampton Regional Council is implementing a number of different programs to further improve the capacity of staff to prevent incidents. The Council has implemented a number of programs, including Perform for Manual Tasks and Zero Tolerance program for Workplace Harassment.
Rockhampton Regional Council is committed to sharing information with other organisations to improve the standard of WHS within our region. In Safe Work Australia Week 2009 Rockhampton Regional Council co-hosted a seminar, trade show and black-tie dinner. The event was a huge success, the largest in Queensland.
What differences will I see at Rockhampton Regional Council?
Your Safety and Wellbeing is the number one priority at the Council. Zero Harm is the driving factor when tough decisions need to be made.
Staff wellbeing falls under this program, including the community wellbeing program Kickstart CQ.
