Rate payments assist Council to administer a range of programs, services and projects to help maintain and improve services and facilities for the community.
These services can include community services, sporting and recreation services, environmental planning, public health, environmental protection and waste collection, treatment and disposal.
The rates you pay, which are determined during the annual budget process, allow Rockhampton Regional Council to fund these services which benefit the whole of the Rockhampton Region.
Annual rates are issued in approximately February and September. Ratepayers should contact Council if they do not receive a notice at the expected times. Council offer a number of payment options, including the ability to pre-pay your rates using periodic direct debits.
Pensioner Concession
Council allows a Pensioner Rate Rebate for Pensioners who qualify under the State Government guidelines. Applicants approved for the Government Subsidy also receive the Council subsidy. For further information contact Council's Customer Service Centre on 1300 22 55 77.
Fire Levy
A Fire levy is charged on all properties in the designated fire zone. The amount of the charge varies according to whether the property is vacant or developed, and the type of such development.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service provides Council with a schedule of charges, and Council collects this levy on behalf of the State Government.
This charge is levied at the time of issue of Rates Notices.

Water accounts for Capricorn Coast households and businesses will be easier and more convenient to pay, as Fitzroy River Water (FRW) transitions to quarterly water consumption accounts over the next 12 months.
Water accounts will only include charges for usage of water, however general rates accounts will include any water access charges.
