Note: In accordance with s12(4)(h) of the Local Government Act 2009, His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Carter has been appointed as an ex-officio member to the Health and Regulatory Services Committee.

Responsibilities:

The following is a list of functions assigned to the Health and Regulatory Services Committee:

  • Local Laws Policy formation and review
  • Animal management
  • Communicable Disease Management
  • Disaster Management - Public Health/Welfare
  • Health Compliance in terms of:
    • Public Health Act 2005 and respective regulation/s;
    • Food Act 2006 and respective Regulation/s;
    • Dangerous Goods Safety Management Act and respective regulation/s; and
    • Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act 2003 and respective regulation/s.
  • Hazardous waste
  • Immunisation Services and Compliance with Queensland Health Protocols
  • Legislation Review & Policy Development
  • Pest Management in terms of The Land Protection (Pest & Stock Route Management) Act 2002
  • Public Health and Safety
  • Vector control
  • Waste management policy development, including strategic overview of landfill development.

Note: The Health and Regulatory Services Committee makes recommendations to the Ordinary Council meeting. The Health and Regulatory Services Committee has no delegated authority.
